The madrassas of medieval Uzbekistan were the most ambitious scientific institutions of their age. The scholars trained there went on to reshape astronomy, mathematics, and navigation across continents.
Uzbekistan's young generation today is building businesses, writing code, and entering a financial system being transformed in real time around them. With a median population age of 27.11, a Presidential Decree committing to training 5,000 fintech professionals by 2030, and a national Five Million AI Leaders initiative developing the next generation of technology talent, the conditions for a generational leap are in place.
What those numbers represent is not a workforce target, it is the generation that will build, operate, and regulate the digital financial infrastructure Uzbekistan's strategic position depends on. That requires more than training. It requires pathways from education into founding, and from founding into the corridors where that talent is needed most.
The Silk Road FinTech Hackathon, skilling programmes, and student-to-founder pipelines are how that happens. The Madrassa is where it starts.
